I keep looking at my axies (and all of yours) and it amazes me how different they are (even with in their various 'types')

Just compare these two wild types (deaky n nadia) nadia is a 'perfect' axie no nics or scratches or extra/missing toes deakys colouring is better (reminds me of a trout) but if you look closely deakys gills naturally lie back compared to the other axie (i guess this is genetics) nadia is HUGE and deaky tiny. deakys body shape is slightly curved and his face has more pronounced 'ridges' than nadia (between the eyes) but no matter how different axies are they all seem to have the same smile :)

for some reason the photos did not attach (sorry)

yea it amazes me how different all their faces and gills are, mine are weird though because they are brothers and have identical gill shapes but one is white and one is wild. your second wild type photo axie looks a little bit plump, is it the greedy one? theres always one hehe

they are all ' a bit plump' I kinda like it that way (as if they stop eating i have more to work with) but was shocked by this photo deaky the greedy one is really fat ...... i let 'her' off as she can get agressive if she isnt well fed (i had to separate them previously but have since added LOADS of hiding places to the tank which seems to be working) I think they need to go on a diet (except the leuistic freckles as 'he' is still growing) anyone else think they could do with a bit of weight loss??

sorry for multiple post but have some pics ....I am pretty sure the two wildtypes (deaky and nadia) are females and leuistic (freckles)is male (though he is too young to sex still he has a bit of a cloaca which the other two have never had and his head is a different shape)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
