I lost my axie 3 month ago and recently god this new beauty.

Its to young to sex, but its growing FAST and a real happy camper :)

One of my friends work at a museum where they have a large breeding group for euducating children and he promised me one of theit offspring so I have followed this little one since it was only an egg :)

What would you call this colouration???

A dark wildtype - his colour may darken a lot more as s/he matures.

When they're only a few months old and under 12cm their colour is usually as light as this. He may darken a little or a lot. Our young wildtypes, which were also same colouring as this one w, and now adult vary quite a bit in colouring now. Their colour ranges from almost black (with varying shades of brown splotches); to dark brown with pale grey sides and underbelly; a dark brown one and dark grey looking one.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
