I got Elektra when she was a larva, and Eddie was pretty small too. I think they are kind of grown up now, though I'm not sure exactly how long T. verr. take to become sexually mature. (anyone know?) Elektra is about 2 1/2, and Eddie is about 1 1/2 years old.
But I'm thinking, I was right, naming them the way they did, if anyone cares to agree or disagree.
The first three pics are Eddie, and the last two are Elektra.

They both spend about half their time in their pond, and half their time on the land.

Hi Dawn,
They look good. I think the first 3 are a female. The last pictures look like they could be male. In Tylototriton the females ger a bulge with a shorter cloaca slit. I've heard it described as a volcanoe. The males have a longer slit and no bulge. Last year I orderred a bunch of male T. shanjing to go with my lonely females. The supplier sent mostly females because he acted under the assumption that if their is a bulge it must be a male.

Well, I'm happy they seem to be a pair! I'll have to see who lays eggs and rename them Edwina and Elektron, if I have to.

Btw, the first newt pictured is the one I got from you, Michael.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
