Here is a picture of my new tank. My axies have been upgraded from a 2 and half foot tank to a 4 footer! If you look closely you can just see Lexi peeping out from her 'cave' in the middle of the tank! I'm impressed with the tank, but my two don't seem very appreciative! Hopefully they'll stop sulking about all the upheaval soon, Kerry.

PS. I just noticed Lottie is looking out of her 'cave' under the wood in the left hand corner!

Hi Kerry,

Great tank size and looks lovely

I would recommend some more hides however, there should be at least twice as many hides to the amount of axies in the tank.

Cheers Jacq.

Updated tank

Thank you all for your input about my new tank. The pictures aren't brilliant, I can't seem to get the whole tank in without loads of reflection on the glass. I have now added more plants (though I could only get little ones today) and some mega big hides, they are the bright green things either end of the tank! I've tried to disguise them a little with the wood I had in there already, because believe me they are BRIGHT! I was thinking of getting some java fern, but I'm worried that if any dies off it will cause more problems with my water quality. Anyway, hope you approve of my attempts so far! My tank is always a 'work in progress'!! Kerry.

Re: Updated tank

Kerry believe me, your tank will be a never ending work in progress. Im exactly the same. I have redone my tank 3 times since I bought it At the beginning of January. Just redid it yesterday. Bought some Java Fern and an anubia fixed to a piece of bogwood. Popped out to my local garden centre and bought a terracotta plant pot and with the help of my lovely hubby, broke it up into some nice shapes for hides. It goes really well with the green of the plants. Hope to post pictures of it soon.
Java Fern are supposed to be pretty tolerant of most conditions, I will find out how tolerant over the next few weeks I'm sure.

Looks great Kerry!

I agree with Becky, it will be a work in progress never ending! I've rearranged my largest tank a few times since I purchased it  - I think if my axies could speak they would be saying each time "Oh Jacq, not again please". I'm happy with it as it is now though. Truly. Although one of those rocks...

If I can find the charger for the camera I'll post it in the gallery so you folk can give your critique ;)

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
