Hey there Silox!

Your cynops tank is a lot like mine! I dig it! Those live plants in the middle and back I have those too.

thanks
maybe you can post some pictures too.
i'm interested :D

Nice looking tank! My first newt was a Cynops Orientalis, still have and enjoy the little guy!

Just to let you know that deep sand can
form anaerobic pockets which lack oxygen and allows dangerous gases to form. With that build up of sand on one side I would be worried about it. That also cuts down water area for you buddy to swim. If you need something to hold up the plants/plant area, maybe a clay pot or a large rock(s).

Hey Silox; that's a really nice looking tank.
I'm busy planning a few changes to my newts' tank.
How do you (and your newt, of course) find sand as a substrate? Is it easy maintain and keep free of debri?
I currently have gravel as a substrate, which is trapping a lot of food/plant/newt waste, hah.

Well sand is not hard to clean but you will have to refresh it within a half year
And though its east to maintain
maybe you can post some pics too after the changes

Ah, easier than I imagined then!
Yeah, I'll post a few pictures once the tank has been rearranged.

Why are you changing it out every six months. Could you get snails and shrimp to turn the sand over and decompose some of it?

Hi Silox,

Your tank looks fantastic, well done. I wish i could live in there (haha) it looks so calm :)
