Update on the grans.

So looks like they are started for this season - I pulled the first batch of eggs out just the other day.
Here is a pic of the mother and an egg, the eggs I pulled out, and for fun a pic of the 1 year old aquatics, and a pic of the 2 year old terrestrials.

Isn't it kind rare to breed this species..or am I wrong? They look great! I really love the plants used!

It is rather rare, JB. When you consider how many people keep Taricha in captivity, there are rather few who report eggs. Audrey either has the right magic, or she somehow got an especially "productive" pair.:happy:

Congrats with breeding, again! :)
Your one yearolds look good and much bigger than mine are.
I lost quit a few in a aquatic setup so i have them terrestrial.
Might be the reason for them to be quit small?!

The two yearolds are really robust, they look very healthy.
A joy to look at!

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
