Hi,
I decided to make my own FBT tank. I have some ideas, but I would like to see your setups. Could you please post pics of your bombina tanks for me?

Thx

Here is mine!

Thanks!
I like your setup. What did you use as a land/water divider?

There´s my idea. I think that the hose could be hidden behind the false background made from cork.

The tank divider is some commercial one I found that is designed for turtle tanks.

As for the plants, it is Epipremnum pinnatum.

It´s a pothos.
There are a few synonims given the many taxonomic changes it has suffered, it can be found as Pothos aureus, Epipremnum aureum, Scindapsus aureus....
Ít´s a brilliant plant!!!

Edit: E.pinnatum is also a synonim of E.aureum.

Is it a hardy species? also can it thrive in both water and land?

Cheers.

It takes a really talented person to kill pothos. Pothos is one of, if not the hardiest plant I've ever worked with. And yes, it can grow in both land and water.

Justin has said it all. I´ll only add that at least in my experience it actually grows better hydroponically or semi-hydroponically. I love this plants!!!!

Hi all I use plastic hamster cages with solid plastic bottoms and clear plastic tops they are easy to utilise if you want to keep them outside use the large indoor perspex rabbit cages but be warned they can climb up the sides so keep them covered with fine mesh, my green toads are in there now hopefully they may spawn in the next couple of weeks.Plants scindapus, goosefoot, and peace lillies all grow like mad in water and on land, a plant called mind your'e own business grows prolific on the land but needs to be drier than the previous plants.I keep my bombina in shallow water then place them in well lit tanks with a depth of 8cm of water and then they spawn when I'm ready for it. Have fun :p

The plant with dark leaves is a syngonium or philodendron?

I just set this tank up yesterday, has two Fire Bellied Toads in it. Excuse the dirty glass, hehe.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
