Guys, i will take more pics. The big guy I have had for around 3 months. I don´t have a clue on how old he could be. I imagine he is old. He is also the nicest siren intermedia I have ever seen. I will take some good pics with my nikon tonight of all of my amphibia. Thanks John.

Also I wanted you guys to know that these guys were discovered in areas out of their geographical location. We are working with the University of Alabama on siren genetics. Siren Intermedia is not suppose to be down this far south here in Lee County. At least it hasn´t been discovered here yet. With our help to the University we might be breaking new grounds with siren intermedia.

Nice to see you on this site snookn, and definatly a nice siren, hope mine will get that big.

Hi Snookn-

Cool salamanders indeed, but those animals are actually Siren lacertina and not Siren intermedia. Once you get south of the Green Swamp and northern Kissimmee Prairie, the adult S. lacertina have those large, irregular black spots under the gold and green striations, unlike the ones further north that tend to lose the spots once they reach 4 or 5 inches. It'll be interesting to see how many different species come out of this genus when it is all said and done...if it ever gets done.

Later, KW

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
