Just a few photos of some of my latest newts which arrived from Austria last week, as well as some of my older Neurergus. The photos are of Neurergus strauchii strauchii and barani, Neurergus kaiseri and Euproctus platycephalus.

Very nice! I´ve always wondered why Euproctus is not kept more frequently. Ok, they are not the prettiest, but they are fascinating!

This is great to see. I sparked my interest in that Eurproctus are so close to Neurergus genetically. Nice looking specimens!

Thanks very much for the comments.
I agree that it is a shame Euproctus are so unusual in the hobby, as they are a great species. They have been out exploring every time I have looked in the tank today, and as of yet seem to be fairly straight-forward captives. I also think they are much prettier than they are given credit for.

Euproctus are certainly very interesting and great behavior. I've got eggs last year but they were infertile. My hopes are better this winter/spring ;)

If anyone could help me acquire Euproctus platycephalus I would be ecstatic!!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
