Pics of my axi in her tank

great looking axolotl and setup there, just be sure that you don't let any gunk build up between those pebbles.

Keep a really close eye on the pebble size. Any that are the same size or smaller than your little axolotl's head are a danger. Axolotl gulp in their food and the stones are prone to going in too, even if you hand feed . Also as iChris says, they will be a nightmare to keep clean. Cute little axolotl :D

Thanx for the replies. Yes, I'm completely and utterly aware of the stone sizes, I've made sure that they're bigger then her head. Also, I check her tank many times a day, as I'm mostly at home atm and I've got a syphon for the tank to suck up any food or items in between the pebbles. At this stage, I'd probly clean her tank out just for something to do :p Otherwise, thanx for the comments and suggestions. Other then that, Gem has been very happily swimming around her tank, eating very well, every so often goes up for air and pays attention to me most of the time when I come over to the tank

I love the first two pictures, looks like she is smiling :) Your username made me smile too, Gem seems like she is very much loved!

I've only got one new pic at the moment, but I'm planning on taking some more really soon

Peek a boo! :p

Just an update, took a few more photos, which I haven't taken any in months and I got good ones this time, even though she doesn't like the flash  She's been one very well looked after and very happy axi, although I intend to get her a moss ball soon, she needs something to play with :p

Oh and if you're wondering what she is hiding behind, its a 2 Liter coke bottle that I fill and freeze, then I sit it on top of her log to keep the tank cool and it works a treat

Gem decided to accept being photographed today, and boy has she been busy with her make over :p I mean wow, check out that new sand hair shes created :D

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
