My lovely lotls! I'm not sure how old they are (if anyone can hazard a guess i'd love to hear it!) but they are very little and very cute. They're both leucistics and i'm extremely attached to them.

Photo 1- Ned or 'Lots'o'spotls'! I'm hoping he'll be all freckley. Photo 2- I can see inside of you. Photo 3- Out of all the worms to eat in the tank, Gillroy wanted the one most difficult to get!

Aww, Ned's puppy eyes are so cute! A lovely pair of monsters :)

Cute little freckle face. It's always a surprise if they will remain 'freckly' or not :D

lovely axies :) Very cute :)
You will need to take the stones, my axies were that size a month ago and now they would have no problems hoovering that up. Sorry. You'd be amazed at how fast they grow!

Awwww man! Really sweet photos! You've captured the weirdness and cuteness of axolotls!

Re: the worms going down the side, you might find that those stones are a bit of a pain to keep clean, it's very very easy to miss small worms and poop between those, plus they look like they might be small enough to be swallowed by an adult, which is life threatening (they'll be monsters before you know it).

So, might be worth considering a swap out for sand or a bare bottom before they get big enough to eat them.

Yeah i've been planning to switch to sand at some point when I get some money but other than being a pain for cleaning, the stones are much too large to cause impaction so let's just hope my axies don't triple in size in the next two weeks! :p

Just don't feed them magic beans.

Just thought i'd let you know that i've taken all the stones out of my tank and have brought some cool blue sand to replace them! It's the kind that is suitable for use in a fish tank. Feeding my axies is a lot easier without the stones, the only problem now is finding a way to get my axies into little tubs whilst I replace their substrate..

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
