I am currently looking for 3 large tubs that are between 11 and 20 litre tubs, the catch is they need to be escape proof for fruitflies and earthworms
the best i ahve come up with are these boxes by Addis
Addis - Clip & Close Range - 11.5L with handle
The problem is the price doesanyone here know where i can buy tubs that are very similar and just as effective, these will be used as rearing tubs for juves
I thank you in advance my friends
P.S
Very usefull tubs dont stop fruitflies or earthworms

With the tub you show in the photo, how would you provide ventilation? Any holes you drill will let out the fruit flies.

I use plain old ordinary inexpensive storage tubs. Then I drill holes in the lid for ventilation. Then I cut up an old bedsheet into pieces a little larger than the tub. The cloth goes between the tub and its lid, and it allows ventilation, but keeps in the fruit flies. When the cloth looks dirty, I launder it.

I'll post a photo if I get a chance.

I use tubs from DIY-market 4 - 9 Euro,
° cut out lid
° a curtain-agglutinate with a hot glue stick
° may seal the lid- edges

I have these tubs also Ummi ,but the lid's to the tubs are not airtight, the worms and the fruitflies climb or slither out underneath and escape I find them on the carpet or the flies on the walls lol and my Girlfriend finds them and screams!!!
"IF I FIND ANY MORE WORMS ON MY CARPET THE NEWTS ARE GOING IN THE BIN!"
(Then i would have to relocate my Girlfriend to her parents house lol)

Re: AW: Re: Terrarium Tubs

Here is my solution to the problem. This allows ventilation, while it also keeps the fruit flies inside and the fungus gnats outside. If you wanted more ventilation, the whole top of the tub could be cut out. I live in a very dry climate, so I prefer to have just the small air holes to reduce evaporation.

Cool ! I will give it a try ,hopefully no worms or fruitflies escape or the misses will kill me lol

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
