I have 4 axolotls who i just love to bits. Geisha, Gunter, Gaga & Gizmo.
All different sizes but none full grown yet.

I got a sweet picture of them hugging today and just had to share it because they look so cute. ^___^

-Gunter my black one is the bossy one who loves to be held in my hand and could sit there all day as long if i could have my arm in the tank for so long.

-Geisha the little white one is my little rescue from the pet store. She had one leg left and fungus on the other and after 2 weeks of salt baths and being in the fridge all that time she has made a full recovery.

-Gaga is the leucistic with a freckle face. She is always dancing and pulling such weird poses just like Lady gaga so thats why she has that name. :D

-Gizmo is my yellow speckly wildtype and he is a laid back kinda axolotl and reminds me of Gizmo from gremlins.

Heya, I saw your thread earlier about Geisha and her legs. Love your pictures :) just wanted to ask how Geisha is doing nowadays?:D

Stacks o' lotls! Love it!

Gizmo is crazy looking! I almost want to say he's a copper... but his eyes are making me think otherwise. I've never seen such a yellow wildtype!

I agree as dark as those eyes are I'm think that's a copper lotl :)

I would have to agree that Gizmo is almost definitely a Copper and a beautiful one at that. Sometimes when their pupils are so small you can only see the red of their eyes when the light catches them just the right angle.

Regards Neil

Wow what a great photo. Lovely Axies.

Hi Joarna, Thankyou for that ^___^ Geisha is doing great. Her little legs are growing back alot faster then i expected now that she is back in the tank, i'm sure that any day now she will start to form the little toes on the end of the stump growing out. lol :D

Thankyou for all the comments guys ^____^ i'm so happy i had the camera in my hand trying to get pictures already when this happened, good timing. :D

Yeh i'm really not sure about little Gizmo's colour. I thought he isn't a copper because he does have some white speckled throughout his tail and body but not much..So i guess he is an unusual wildtype.

Why can't a Copper have white speckling on it's tail or body?

Regards Neil

oh wow :) i didn't know that coppers could have white on them.. After looking at your pics i think that maybe he is one then, Yay. ^___^ And if not, then he is an unusual wild type. Either way i love him. =D i will try getting a long shot of his body today and posting that so you can see better what he is..
Are they your axolotls in the pictures?

Here is a few pics of Gizmo up close to see his colours and hopefully you guys can help me decide what kind of colour he is.

Also, a few cute pics of Gunter, Gaga and Geisha. I especially love the picture of Geisha's head poking out of the castle. She stayed there for nearly an hour and i got plenty of cute pics of her.:D

I love all the pictures!!!! Poor little girl that lost her legs :[ Glad you rescued her, wow I feel so bad for her.

Thankyou ^___^ don't worry about the little one who lost her legs, they are growing back so fast and already she has little toes formed on the ends of her stumpy legs. :)

Ooooh they're all so pretty! Mine are.... boring looking.

Yeh they are pretty ^^ but your's are cute too Dolores in your photo album n_n

Redjesta, what is the size difference between the biggest and smallest axolotls in your tank ? The albino who is missing a limb seems comparatively small compared to the rest and regenerating that limb will retard its growth, increasing any size difference which exists at a moment. Smaller axolotls can be stressed in the presence of larger ones as they could (and often do) end up on the menu.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
