Subarctic Herping in Alaska

Har! Who said you can't go herping in the Great North? Molch went pond-hopping this summer in the boreal forests of Fairbanks, 65 degrees N. The only herp here is the wood frog, but there are lots of them. The woods are full of lovely ponds and in late May, when I took these pics, they are crawling with life.

Oo, nice Dytiscus larva! Always loved those and their alien appearance.
Nice pictures all around, even the Pileofdungus ****ii, that´s a rare find.
