In my everlasting battle to stop Alice and Milo wrecking every plant Ive ever tried to grow I thought I had finally cracked it, suction cups on little tubs should = plants off the substrate & Axies not tearing them up, unfortunately it = another fail lol it equaled axies thinking hmm hammocks! They are just too cute to be mad at :p

Lol, mine always bounce the plants from the left side of the tank to the right. And back. I keep digging them in the sand but they always pull them out.

They like bouncing their mossball around the tank as well.

Oh and they 'sleep' in the plants as well.

What are they like haha you are so right, mine dig and dig until everything is everywhere!

I wonder if this is an Adult Axie habit, My 4 1/2 inch juvies dont pay any attention to my plants yet. I wonder if I need to brace myself for future gardeners. lol

Exactly what I was thinking. My young axies don't even pay attention to their plants.

I have two adults in a pretty heavily planted tank (empty front, plants in the background). In the past 4 months that it's been set up, they've only uprooted two plants that seemed to be getting in their way of axie missions or whatever it is they want to do with those spots.

The rest of the plants have been unharmed and unmoved. I think it depends on the placement. And then, once the roots get established, it's very unlikely that an adult could uproot it if it wanted to.

Aw guys these two are terrors lol inadvertently though, I think its just because the plants are so fluffy and perhaps "stroke" them as they swim through? They sleep, hang out of,swim through them all the time which just uproots them from the pots Ive previously planted in.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
