Hi everyone!

I got an Axolotl (Wooper) a week ago now. He's still alive, hurrrayyy! ;)

So I thought I'd share some photos of him and maybe add more as he grows. He's so much fun, although very clumsy! Always floating head first into everything lol.

Cutie! Leucistics make me happy :)
He looks a little thin tho. Feed him lots of worms! :D
His belly should be as wide as his head.

Very cute! Hoping to get a baby axolotl within the next few weeks! Thanks for sharing your little one! :D

When we first got him he didn't seem interested in food. He's a little piggy now and won't stop eating and looking for food. Just waiting for the snow to clear up and we can go find some nice juicy earth worms for him.

Hey guys, I haven't posted any pictures in a while. So here's a few new ones of Wooper.

Playing peek-a-boo.

I don't remember taking this at all, but his gills are getting bigger. :D

This is his full time occupation at the moment... Chasing himself!

Wow it's got some pretty defined elbows! Love it!

Okay so Wooper is no longer an axolotl, he is now a piggy. He literally goes crazy when I add food to the tank. He used to swim straight into his feeding jar, but now he's a complete fool. He gets so excited he swims up to the outside of the jar and starts trying to eat the worms through the glass. He then swims around like crazy and does it all over again. :errr:

He ate his worm so fast the other day, all 4 bits were swallowed at the same time. He's only little and guess how this ended up... Worm vomit! So today he's having blood worms so he can take his time. The next meal will be worms which are spread around the tank or introduced a bit at a time lol! :D

hi just wanted to say he is very cute but in the 1st pic you put up i noticed a heater. why do you have a heater?

I too own a heater. Im in the uk and our weather is up and down so i like my axies to be at a consistant temperature so put my heater on 18 so that if temp does drop below that it comes on n keeps temp perfect :) x

Got rid of the heater. It was sat at a constant 18 too but I was advised against it on here. Moobear they don't need a heater, they like it cooler as long as the water isn't frozen lol. My tropical fish are now enjoying the heater :D

He's in a bigger tank now too, look at that freckly face

Congratulation!

His gills are much better than when you took him!

He is very funny

Piggy indeed! That gave me a good giggle!

He looks so much healthier now! And being a piggy will help with that, I'm sure!

But most of all: what charming freckles!

Yeah he's getting a lot better. Still worried he's a little skinny but I think I've got a good feeding routine now.

This axolotl never sits still. Always on the move and coming to greet me

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
