As of yesterday all of my babies have hatched! they are all about 1.5cm so far!
I hate live food so I am hoping it wont be long before they can be on bloodworms! *Crosses fingers* (I screwed up my first batch of live food, but had enough to feed them till the new eggs hatched)

And theres a few pictures of echo and texas :) They are doing very well. They are in the same tub together and get along really well, and the other picture is when I had to put them in a small tub to do a water change once.

Its been 4days since the first babies started to hatch and all is well :) all their tummies are full of shrimp now(so they are all eating) and I love watching this domino effect they have(One moves, hits another, and that one scares and moves and hits another etc) Its so funny

Congratulations on so many lovely babies :)

Why do you hate live food?
Surely it's easier to keep live food that you know the axies will love to eat.
The fact that live food is less likely to adversely affect water quality is a major bonus (esp blackworms compared to bloodworms)

Mine are so spoiled they won't eat anything except live worms! Thank goodness Kerry's lotls love the hikari pellets because my worm farm couldn't keep up with their bellies :D

Okay, correction, I hate BBS! Hahaha :p If I could find other things for them I would so be feeding even my juvies live food(Once the snow melts, and fishing season starts, we are starting up a outdoor wormfarm for the axies and for fishing!) :) It's going to be beautiful.
But for now I have only been able to find frozen bloodworms and BBS eggs. and bbs eggs are so messy and time consuming. But whatever to keep my babies alive and healthy I will do :) I am still looking for other things. Any recommendations? I have been all over town twice over and can't find any live food except for crickets! blah!

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
