Hi,

A friend of mine in British Columbia, Canada, recently sent me a few "mystery eggs" from a clump that were laid in a pool fed by a spring in her back yard.

The eggs came encased in a very viscous gel clump, which I removed after a few of the eggs started to go fuzzy (in the hopes of preventing the fungus from spreading). Now, the eggs have all hatched out (over the span of the past 3-4 days). There are about 12 of them, although at least 2 seem to be deformed (tails badly bent).

I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following questions:

1. Are these in fact T. granulosa larvae? The other alternative for their point of oringin is A. gracile.

2. None of the larvae have eaten yet, although I have been adding hatched brine shrimp to their set up. Should I be concerned? How long does it usually take before they eat?

3. Are brine shrimp the right food to be offering to these guys?

4. Are there any other considerations that I should be aware of?

Thanks for all of your assistance and feedback!

Attached are some pics.
