Hi. My name is Fred and I am completely new to this. Still have a hard time spelling the name of these creatures. I am a small animal veterinarian trying to help out a friend who recently acquired six Axolotyl three weeks ago and three of them appear to be sick. They were transferred from smaller tanks to larger tanks but in the same water. Four days ago the area between the albino's nares has turned yellow, the transparent tail has become mottled with white patches and the very tips of the toes have turned black. The feathers on the gills( if that what they are called) are missing or atrophied. The two non-albinos have one or more extremities that also seem to be atrophying or have fallen off. Currently she is isolating them into 5 gallon tanks with water temp. of 70 degrees. She uses a 5 in 1 dip stick to measure nitrates, chlorine, ph, alkalinity and something else. She is changing water daily with previously treated tap water due to sloughing of skin. They are also being exposed to a different filtration system. Is this a form of shock? I read some of the threads where it was mentioned about putting in the refrigerator or a special salt solution. I have included pictures. Please let me know if you need anymore information. Thank you
