My wonderful chimera <3

His halves seem to be growing at a nice matched rate too!

The mother is a copper. I have 2 males in my tank, a leucist (wildtype x leucist) and a wildtype (again: wildtype x leucist). So I don't really know who the father could be. However, I know wildtype is the dominant colour, so that rules out the leucistic male. Or not? I am very bad at genetics!
 
Really curious how this axie would turn out as an adult :D
 
I think you are right that the leucistic male can't be the father otherwise you should have seen some copper babies. Did you get any copper babies?

I'm also thinking that that your Copper female must have the leucistic gene otherwise all of your babies would have been wildtype which they are not.

Any genetics experts please chime if any of this is incorrect.

I don't think I have copper babies... There are a few lighter ones thought. Here are some pictures to compare.

I saw my first Chimera axolotl last week. Was the most amazing thing i have ever witnessed. She was about 7 inches at i believe he said almost 2 years old half leucistic GFP and half wild type but the wild type eye looked albino. Only thing is her gills but she seemed very happy to me and What caught my attention the most is how only half of her glowed under black light.

I'm still excited! If at all possible, could you set one aside for me if you'd notice in the end that it's definitely a copper? :D You never know eh :p
He/she would have a good home ;)

Oh, and the one with the extra gill, the pic on the right? It looks extra cute <3

I love this little one. Hope the missing limb grows back quickly. Keep the pics coming. :happy:
 
He's growing up nicely. :) I'm sure that limb will grow back in no time.

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
