I'm so pleased to have discovered this forum whilst considering getting an axolotl. I like to have as much information about any perspective pets as possible and couldn't have asked for a better source since my local petshop was clueless. Reading every post I came across kept me occupied, and happily so, whilst waiting for my tank to cycle.
Today I bought two juvenile axolotls; around 2", from a lovely local breeder. I couldn't get a photo of my little wild type due to his excellent hiding! But the leucistic is very friendly.
I'm trying to attach a picture but I'm both new to my iPad and posting here haha.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
