Hi all I'm so excited to show you guys my axolotl! His names Big Poppa. Not really sure how old he is or what type of color variant he is. He's fairly young. He glows under a black light! Also I don't know why I'm calling him a he! He could be big momma for all I know. Anyway here he is and here's his set up! He's munchin on some blood worms right now

Hello and welcome to the forum fellow Washingtonian :D

Nice looking axie, if he glows under a blacklight then s/he is a GFP. Also, make sure you feed him earthworms or night crawlers, not just bloodworms - bloodworms aren't nearly as good nutritionally.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
