Hi all,

I'm new around here. I'm finally getting back into herping after about 20 years of being a "grown up". When I was a kid and teenager my room was filled with tanks for turtles, newts and salamanders (and occasionally snakes and/or lizards).

Now, my own kids (5 and 7) are showing some interest, and as I started showing them stuff I realized I'm still really into this myself. Whenever I pass a little pond on the side of the road, I long to pull over with a net and waders and spend hours looking into the water like when I was a kid.

I have begun doing just that again. (Well, I still need to get some waders...)

I'm particularly fond of newts. I bought a couple Chinese Fire Belly newts a few months ago, and I've been (unsuccessfully) searching for some eastern/red-spotted newts (native to my area; see my post in the "Herping Accounts" section).

Caudata.org looks awesome. I would have spent a ridiculous amount of time here as a kid.

Anyway, attached to this post are photos of my fire bellies, Monty and Scrabble.
