Hi, my 3 year old axolotl hasn't eaten in a week and is starting to become very skinny. I have tried to give her meal worms, earth worms, blood worms, and chicken liver and she refuses all of it. I'm getting very worried and hope someone can help me. She has also lost her fluffy gills and they are shrinking. She is in a 20 gallon long and I always filter and let the water sit before putting it in. On Monday i put a very low dosage of melafix in the tank but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have also done a water test and everything seemed to be good. I'm not sure if she is morphing or is sick. Any advice would help. :(

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
