This is the newest member of my little family, Rowan. I adopted him from the daughter of a coworker that just couldnt keep up with the maintenance. So he is now happily living in a 36 gallon bowfront tank. I have a fluval 306 canister filter for him with the water flow turned down so there is no current. He seems to love digging in the CaribSea Natural sand i put in for him. He has been getting salmon pellets for a treat and earthworms as a staple. Im maintaning the tank at 66 degrees F by using a fan. The lights in the hood are off 95% of the time, I just turn them on to check for waste and to feed him. I am new to this axolotl thing so I'm learning as I go.

thank you! He is a sweet boy. His gills are filling in too. Poor water quality and food had the left side looking a little sparce, but he's perking up some.

Mr Rowan has been settling in these last couple weeks. Making improvments with his gills and his appetite is top notch. :happy:

That is a very satisfied looking axolotl. His gills are really ‘filling out’ as well, he must be very content with his situation.
