Sunny our Axolotl has something that appears to be growing out of his gills. Is this normal?

Hi! 😊. As this does not seem normal and could very well be a sickness, maybe wait to see and pick up on Sunny’s behaviour. Is he more hyperactive then usual? Or is he slow and a little more depressed than usual? My axie, Frankie, has very long gills and I see Sunny appears to have smaller gills in general. This could perhaps either be just a feature your axie has or if Sunny is young, maybe this could be his gills growing? Monitor his behaviour for a while and keeping feeding Sunny by a regular routine and if your see and changes, contact me and we maybe could try to find a solution together.

I hope this comment helped! I hope Sunny is okay and happy 😄.

Oops. Incorrect spelling! 😅. I meant to say: ”And keep feeding Sunny by a regular routine and if you see any changes, contact me” Hehe! Sorry ‘bout that!

Hello! I would take a look at this thread:). It has some good information on what I think your dealing with. Hope this helps!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
