This is my little mate, I got him in February for Valentine’s Day, I’ve noticed his gills look a bit curled forward(I’m a new owner) I don’t remember if they’ve always looked this way, he’s about 4 months old. He eats a healthy amount of blackworms, bloodworms, and pellets. I clean his tank and do water changes once every 2 weeks (sometimes week and a half) he doesn’t seem physically stressed so I don’t know if it’s just how he’s built, any ideas??

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
