Hey everyone! Nick here!! Just had my first spawn of these little newts a few months back. Out of the 20 or so, I noticed an odd colored one. I've been keeping an eye on it throughout the whole process. Should be getting ready to leave the water any week now! Has anyone else ever popped one of these put in their newts? Thanks everyone!

These usually turn out to be hypomelanistic or leucistic (less likely). They're often infertile.

Gotcha! I figured that would be the case! If it morphs out okay should be a cool pet to look at!!

Update! Getting big and still no signs of morphing, all siblings have left the water for at least a month already. This one may end up paedamorphic, who knows.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
