Question: Almond Leaves Make Salt Baths Less Effective?

When my axie got a fungal infection on her gills, I bought some almond leaves to leave in her tank and let their anti-fungal and medicinal properties do their thing. I was already doing twice-daily salt baths, as I normally did. I just thought that the leaves would help her skin and slime coat, as well as kill the fungus more gently. I was then told that I should not have been doing that, as the tannins from the leaves would make the salt baths less effective? Can anyone confirm or deny this?
