Hi guys!

The other day I was digging in our family garden for some disgusting small worms to feed my newts and I found what looked like a small Centipede. I saw here Caudata Culture Articles - Food Items for Captive Caudates that you can feed them a wide range of live food but nothing about centipedes.

Are they OK for most newts in general? Can I just basically feed pretty much anything I find in my garden that's sized appropriate? Because of my sister being vegan-organic-no-animal-abuse-no-caca all kinds of stuff like that, we only use organic fertilizer like poop and such.

I can't give you a definitive answer, but personally I would say "no" to centipedes, simply because they are predators, posssessing fangs which could conceivably harm an amphibian, plus the unknown factors of venom (some centipedes are venomous).
I'd be more inclinded to feed your newts the same kind of thing the centipedes feed on.

I pinch off their heads and feed them to my salamanders and newts all the time.
