Frozen Fun Feeders

I picked these up at a local pet store tonight. I am always striving to offer my Tylototriton as much variety as possible so I thought that I would give them a try. These things are shaped like a fish and the ingredients include fish hydrolsates, sardine meal, soy protein concentrate, water, gel binder, refined marine fish oil, whole egg, and the list goes on. Anyway, they are easily sliced into a desired size and the feeding response was as follows:

3 out of 6 T. kweichowensis
4 out of 5 T. tailangensis
5 out of 6 T. shanjing

It should be noted that if an individual refused I offered an earthworm chunk and some refused altogether while others took the worm pieces.

How did they take them, Chip? Did you have to wiggle them in front of their mouths, or did they take them based on smell alone?

The newts took them via forceps. The individual pieces actually come with a short piece of fishing line attached however (it easily pulls free).
