I know this is a terrible photo but her it is anyway, what are the very small black critters, in size and shape similar to a poppyseed? They are moving quite fast even though it's cold today. Ignore the other couple of critters in there! The wee things are too small to see any moving parts on, just look like small speedy spheres. What are they and are they good baby axie food?

Sound like they could be ostracods, try googling them. If so, salamander larvae will eat them.

Managed to nab one and put it under a microscope, it is (was) an ostracod. Yay! free food! :lick:

Are they always on the sides of the container? They look like baby snails to me.
