So this is one of my Salamandra s. gigliolii. This male was sitting on its log like this when I walked in. I'm really hoping that this group produces larvae in the next couple of months. To my knowledge, there might be just 1 person reproducing these in the USA right now.

Beautiful! I didn't realize these were in the US at all. It would definitely be great to produce a breeding population, although with such a small existing population there are likely to be genetic problems eventually.

Striking animal! Please put me on the offspring wait list! ;)

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
