Method to diffuse filter outflow

Here is how I diffuse the outflow from a canister filter. The gal in the picture is a female Cynops pyrrhogaster. This is a favorite perch.

Jenn, that is a fabulous idea! My Pleurodeles hate what little current there is in thier tank (there's a rock and a dense plastic plant in front of my outflow at the moment). I'm going to set this up tonight when I get home. Thanks for the idea! :D

My granulosas seem to love the little bit of current in their tank. They like to body surf on it. Does anyone else have newts that seem to like current?

Right Jesper, I forgot! I'm thinking of making my guys little foam boogy boards!

My Oregons like to body surf on the current, too. Romeo loves to hang onto the cord with one foot and let it blow him around, LOL!

Jenn, wanted to come back and say that your idea worked fabulously. I used a cast resin food bowl that I had left over from a previous tank, filled it with rocks, and ran a hose from the filter to it. It work wonderfully - I had been worried that the filter might not be strong enough, but everything's fine.

And my little guys have decided that this contraption makes a GREAT jungle gym! :D
