Night crawlers filled with dirt

Ive recently starting buying packs of nightcrawlers from petco, they come in a styrofoam container, filled with dirt. I’ve noticed after my axolotl eats the worms it spends the next day or so regurgitating all the dirt the worm had inside it. Is there a way to purge all the dirt from the worms?

Simply squeeze it out of the worm. Kind of like you would empty a tube of toothpaste.
