Had her in a tub and finally put her in the tank after cycling and there's been some ammonia spikes but I've been doing 50% water changes trying to keep total ammonia and nitrite below .5 and I've been adding a dose of nitrifying bacteria each time I do a change. I figured the slime could just be that or biofilm or algae of some sort but I'm not sure. I washed the foam block a few days ago with tank water and there's already more slime forming and there's also some on the tank decor and plants. I think some of it may be white hair algae but the rest is snot-like consistency. Should I clean it or is it good for the tank?
P.s. does anyone know how I can keep ammonia down? It got up to 4.0 at one point and I did a water change immediately but it's still been getting pretty high even if I change the water two days in a row. She looks healthy for now but I don't want that to change
