I was wondering if any of the keepers of Dicamptodon can tell me at what size does patterning starts to be evident in either D. ensatus or D. tenebrosus.... Raising a larval tenebrosus from a tiny inch and a half fingerling into an adult I have high hopes that my little guy will be a stunner with high contrast patterning as I've seen in some individuals.
His tail is very nicely patterned already but I have no idea if that indicates anything.
I'm sure I will love the little guy no matter how he turns out.

I thought about tacking this on my last post of the Dicamp. sub forum but it was lonely in there so I decided one more post couldn't hurt:D

I've only ever kept adults which already had developed patterns, is yours recently morphed or still a larva? The only larvae I've ever seen were mostly brown with subtle mottling (some were up to about 5-6" though). Any pictures? I love these guys.
