Hi there,
Just thought I would share with you our new leucistic babies. We also have several albinos in the bunch. All doing extremely well and we are amazed at how fast they are growing. They hatched 3 weeks ago. :wacko:

Oh gosh, that middle picture with one of them looking at you is adorable! NICE, they look awesome!
 
Here they are at 4 weeks since hatching. The larger ones are now eating bloodworms and adult brine shrimp.

Lookig at the size differences in that second picture I think you might have to start separating big ones from small ones, otherwise the big ones will be fatter and the small ones will 'magically' disappear!

Hi Kerry,

we have started separating, but with 100 fry, a little bit of "culling" by the large ones has already happened. The size difference between them is massive (the larger ones are at least 4x the size of the smaller ones.
 
I suppose it's nature's way of weeding out the less healthy babies. It depends how attached you are to them all and how many you want to survive!

That second picture you posted with the one staring down the camera is pretty awesome! congrats and i am so jealous!
 
Here's one at 6 weeks. Some of them have the most amazing gills :D

Wow, they grow so quickly. They're a fantastic looking bunch.
 
Hi there, babies are still thriving, approx 12 weeks old now. It's going to be hard to just pick a couple to keep before we give the others away! We have 10 really big ones, 40 medium sized and 10 little ones that are developing but not growing much at all.

Yes, most of them have gills like this. I hope they stay that way! The biggest ones are 10cm now. We have decided to keep 6 of the biggest for now until we can assertain their sex, and have found nice homes for the others. It will be sad to part with them, but 60 plus our 6 adults would force us out of our own home for all the tanks we would need!
 
I'd love to have some babies! I always stare longingly at the young ones at pet stores. Yours have turned out gorgeously, I love their big gills. Can't wait until my guys mature, I really want to give it a go.

Can't resist showing off my favourites! They even have their own distinct personalities now. The biggest are 13cm :D

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
