Thought I should update on my lotls, especially since I just took some adorable pictures of them.

In case you don't remember, Momo is the leucisitic, Toothless is the gfp melanoid, and Swarley is the golden albino. The kitten in one picture is Lily (I absolutely love this picture).

More in next post.

New pictures from today of Momo, Toothless and Lily!:proud:

Lily clearly got bored there at the end

Also, I know that the water level is low. I'm going through a heat wave, so evaporation has been useful to keep the temperature down. Today is tank cleaning and refilling day though, so that will be up to better standards shortly.

Love the last pic with Momo looking up at lilly, very cute! Lovely axies :)

Thanks! I love when they all watch each other. It's so funny!

Yeah, thats funny. They're probably looking at each other thinking 'can i eat you?' or 'do you have food?' So cute...

More pictures of my babies! The first two are pictures of Momo's spots. You can see that the spots are darker and that they are spreading down her back. They're very clear on her dorsal crest, but there are some lighter spots on the actual back as well. The next is a great picture of Toothless's color, which is very difficult to photograph.. Swarley in her gourd hide. Swarley's George Costanza impression  And finally, the two babies together. :proud:

They are so cute!

Thanks! I can't get over how much they are growing. Their colors change almost daily, so I have this compulsion to chase them around with my camera to document it

Its great i like seeing axies changing as they get older. I got my axie when he was already 5 months old so i didnt get to see it. Hopefully i will get a young one some time soon but until then i will enjoy looking at everyone else's! :D

Swarley was about 4 months when I got her, so she wasn't changing much either. Momo and Toothless were only about an inch or two long though when I got them. They were still translucent! They're really coming into their colors though. Toothless is getting so dark that it takes me a while to find him/her. The white/black tank they're in needs more white so s/he will stand out

I love looking at other people's lotls. It got me through waiting for mine. So I try to post often for people who like to look as well.

I will look forward to the next update of your cuties!
I cant see mine a lot of the time because of the black background but i thought he probably likes the darkness.

I'm sure he appreciates the darkness. I try to keep it as dark as possible in the room with my tanks. With a kitten though, it scares me to death when I can't find Toothless. My boyfriend laughs at me for not trusting her, but I say that cats can't be trusted

Ha ha it is hard to trust cats. My cat isnt interested in the slightest though. Any pet i have in a cage or tank he looks a them the day i get them realises he cant get in and walks off bored. He does like to bring me mice and birds as so called presents though!

I trusted her until she started trying to play with them through the glass  She also doesn't mind water and tries to climb into the tank to be with them. That makes me nervous. But she hasn't actually made any real moves to hunt them, which is good.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
