I´ve read that Henk breed these in the past when they were placed as Pachytriton C or D. I think, at laest by those (only pics of the species) they would really petter placed as a Pachytriton... They do not resemble Paramesotritons but do really much resemble pachytritons!.. Kind off weird...

They really do look astonishingly like Pachytriton...
It´s kind of like a Paramesotriton/pachytriton hybrid...the head, belly, etc, are Pachytriton....but the vertebral ridge, the tail....are Paramesotriton...very weird!

Now, not-so-new. This species is now Paramesotriton labiatus because specimens from the same location were originally named Pachytriton labiatus...but were not Pachytriton! Pachytriton from the same location have been redescribed as Pachytriton inexpectatus.
