I just rescued this axolotl and I loved the freckles of golden color. The guy said he would check with the manager to see that it wasn't a fungus or bacterial infection. He came back and said the girl was cleared.
I QT "Betsy" that's her new name... for 3 weeks and she didn't developed any issues and was eating great. I eneded up putting her with my other Axolotl "Chanco".
Now I am seeing a little of white small spots but not fluffy. Do you think is some bacterial infection or just part of the pigmentation?

She is more confident now and eating nightcrawlers when before she only wanted pellets.
Her fins are growing and her jaw is also healing from maybe being hurt in the past. It looked weird.
What do you guys think?

couldn't say for sure as the photos need to be taken using normal lighting without the violet back light.
it isn't unusual for a dark skinned axolotl to develop white spots just as white skinned can develop black spots.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
