So I’ve got my tank set up, sponge filter, lots of live plants some driftwood etc.
I used some api quick start and am cycling by ghost feeding, and I have a snail in there already to help with everything.
My mom has a small fish pond with some goldfish and I’ve been considering tanking some established material from it to aid in the cycling process. I’m wondering if this would be more harmful than good tho as it’s an outdoor pond and I’m worried about any harmful contaminants being in there.

Time is key when cycling and I would just use time to let the tank get settled. Impossible to know if there can be anything harmful from the outdoors.
However I used sand from a beach at the bottom as partial gravel. But I worked that sand for a long time before putting it in the tank.
(Hot water and scrubbing / rubbing the sand between my gloves in hot water. Then the same, and the same same..

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
