Thought I'd share some of my finds while visiting a spring-fed pool about a mile or so up a ridge near my family's cabin. I first discovered the pool a little over a year ago, and have visited it a couple of times this year and documented the growth of the local tiger salamanders.

June 2022- many 1 inch larvae (typical hatching period for the locale is early May) and a few adult males
August 2022- 3-4 inch juveniles. All appeared healthy.

*Salamanders were caught using a dip net, photographed, and returned.

What a great spot! Since the pool is spring fed, I imagine that it stays pretty cool temperature-wise? Did you notice any temperature difference in the general area/pond?

I didn't check for temperature, but the pool sits just below 9000ft and it stays pretty consistently cool up there.

And what is the temperature standard for a spring-fed pool?
Once you have a clear structure, you will be able to pay to do homework for me easily.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
