Notice how their tail tips have blackened as also seen with H. lichenatus and H. nigrescens larvae.

Around a week since hatching, they're now eating tubifex, having started out on brine shrimp.

I love Hynobius egg sacs. Do you have any pre-March 13 photos of this one?
 
I love these photos Tim! You use a digital Rebel correct? What lense do you take your macro shots of the larvae with? I'm quite jealous!

Jen, no, the first pictures are from the day I got the egg sac from a friend (together with the H. lichenatus sac I posted about already). I might inquire to see if he has any photos taken before then. Kyle, I upgraded to the Canon 20D a couple of years ago. It's a 50mm Canon Compact-Macro Lens.

As of March 27, 2007:
