ID-ing Melanophryniscus stelzneri

Hi all,

Might aswell post here, does anyone keep this species at all? Need some more expert advice on ID-ing some M.stelzneri for some friends. They have a Trio however they believe one of them is completely different to the other two as it has more markings on its body. I know M.s.fulvoguttatus has more markings and is larger (Like Seth Doty's description of the two subspecies) and they think the other two are M.s.stelzneri.

Anyway, give me a PM if you have any idea of ID-ing the individuals. I gave my opinion but its not 100% and I think more opinions are needed really!

So many of this genus have been described in recent years that the only solution is to dig up the various descriptions and revisions and piece it together from there. I don't know of any good summary. From what I've reviewed, they're by and large M.stelzneri s.s., and the ranges of other taxa are mostly small and just don't occur where the toads are collected [which is Paraguay, I believe].
