Hello all,

This is my first post and this is Big-B. I think he is a male? He has been here for a few months with his two siblings and are healthy and happy. Got them from a friend who bred them and were the first captive bred in Canada!!

Thanks John (Papa)

Welcome to the forum! You've joined a great group of people here!

He is a big one but sex really can't be determined until they are at least a year old. He has a really nice pattern though! :)

By the way, you will want to change out that gravel, axolotls are little vacuums and will attempt to swallow anything that is not larger than their heads! Here's an article about substrates: Caudata Culture Articles - Aquarium Substrates

Much better, but just a heads up, that size gravel allows for many spaces that will collect uneated food and waste. Be sure to be extremely vigilant in your tank maintenance.

Nice Axo. Very seldon to see someone with axolotl in Canada. All posts I've seen, mostly are looking for one. As my first post, also looking for one. But eastern Canada is not the best area I've noticed... The breeder you got it from, if shipping to NB possible, I would be very interested! Every now and then I see some, but they are usually a few years old and rarely ship here.

I have been corrected by the breeder. These are Ambystoma Andersoni!

Oh wow, you have got to post pics once full grown! These are amazing but expensive in US!
