I was just wondering if larval tiger sals start to shed skin when approaching metamorphosis or do they do this all the time?

Yes, as sals approach metamorphoses, they will begin some heavy skin shedding. Neotenic sals shed too, but you metamorphosing sals will do it very noticeably and very often. You'll see bits hanging off of them, etc.

I do think its finally time,his gills are shorter today and he has some darker blotches on his tail.

Just an update on my tigers appearance:
gills nearly gone just small nubs now,no tail fin left and darker blotches of colour on the end of its tail.Head has become rounder and still eating.Its fascinating to watch,such an incredible transformation
