Hi,
What species of worms, live foods etc could live happily in a low tech planted tank? I am hoping to use the Walstadt method and use potting soil, etc. It would be nice to have some inverts, worms, etc to help clean waste and provide entertainment/exercise for newts. Suggestions?

Scuds (Gammarus, Hyalella sp), Daphnia and Moina, Cherry shrimp, and black worms. Keep in mind, though, that these will all add to your bio load so keep up on water maintenance and testing (do this anyway of course).

PS I LOVE the Waldstadt method and am sure you will be more than please with it! Show us pics when you get it up and running :)

Thank you! It'll be a bit but I will definitely post pics!
